For me the FJR1300 was my best ever cruiser. Travelled all over Europe, wonderful bike. Zero problems. The K1600 is simply big and heavy I think, fine for USA freeways but too much for our roads and car parks. The Wing too. Great vids thanks!

Enjoyed the video. Really looking forward to your thoughts on comparing the two bikes. I was in the market for a Goldwing last year but ended up on a K1600 GTL primarily for one reason...price. I seldom buy new motorcycles but look for very lightly used ones of which there are usually plenty out there. I picked up a one owner K1600 GTL with 6000 miles for $9500. It had just been serviced and had new tires. It had a lot of aftermarket accessories and complete service history. A similar used Goldwing would have been close to twice that. So far I've put about 11, 000 trouble free miles on it. I'm not sure why the used market is so soft on the K1600 but I think they're a bargain for anyone in the market for a touring bike. I know BMW service is expensive but I do most of my own maintenance. Keep the videos coming, very enjoyable!

I had to live at 29 Palms (29 Stumps) back in the day, and Palm Desert / Palm Springs used to be my hang-out! Familiar with roads I watched on your video! If you were a former Marine…29 Stumps was a treat for the grunts to train in the heat! I don't miss it 3/7, 0311.

"Behemoth of a bike!"
Respectfully a 2021 Goldwing is +- 800lbs, 2021 Gtl is 789 wet.
You want a Behemoth, try a Harley Ultra classic! 877lbs dry! 🥴 Cheers!

I ride a r 1250 GS and a K 1600 GTL. I ride about 18, 000 a year between both bikes. Honestly I cannot tell you which is more comfortable. So I ride both. God is good!

Fellow Texan here ( just West of DFW) and I have had a used 2018 K1600B Bagger for a little over 2 months now and really love it ! I have a bad back and bad arthritis and this bike makes it easy for me to burn 200-300 miles a day no problem. I can set it on "cruise" in the suspension settings and it just floats like an old Cadillac ! My buddy went from a 2019 CVO Street Glide to a 2022 Matte black Goldwing then after riding my bike bought a 2022 K1600GA Grand America. The only thing he liked about the Goldwing better was the stereo sound quality and the "notchiness" of the BMW's transmission if you try to shift using the quick shifter under 3000rpm shifts. I got him to just use the clutch at low RPM shifts when you want to just cruise and short shift this torque monster. Look forward to more vids !

I got rid of my GW last year. I currently own a Honda sport bike, HD cruiser, and a Triumph adventure bike. N+1. BMW could be my next bike.

Yesterday I paid 6.99 for regular gas. In Richmond CA. Over $180. To fill my van. This is nuts.

I'm a beemer guy who rides (and loves) a '19 R1250RT. I've often bounced between checking out a new 'Wing and the K1600 GTL as a next motorcycle, since I tend to lay down the highway miles. I REALLY liked test riding the GTL (BMW is very generous with their test rides, Honda, not so much). So I'm eager to hear from you as to your impressions from a die-hard Wing-rider of the GTL.

Thank you for putting up with that heat for this report. I drove from So. California I-10 last Labor Day to visit my daughter in Brooklyn and well sympathize with you about the heat. I didn't really begin to enjoy the ride till I got to about St. Louis because of the heat. My 2012 K1600GS was flawless.
That box in the back will hold two full size helmets
I never saw you move the wing deflectors for more air.. They don't always help that much, but many times I am glad they are on the bike. If you don't know about the wing deflectors you are missing out.
I usually got between 42 - 45m.p.g. Twice in Colorado I got 50+ m.p.g. while on slower secondary roads with construction so I had to go slower.
In Manhatten and Brooklyn my bike was like a tank compared to the much smaller bikes they were using in that congested area.
As big as that bike is I have frequently 'white lined' or split lanes in heavy So. Cal traffic. I don't go fast splitting lanes generally and each driver gets a wave of thanks for me for sharing the lane.
Safe travels to you.

Thanks for the great video. I am a former owner of a 2010 Goldwing. It was a great motorcycle, but with all the advancements being made in the industry at that time, Honda was behind the curve. In 2013 I bought the BMW K1600 GTL. I owned the GTL for nine years with minimal service costs. The storage was superior to the wing and could be fully utilized. The GPS was better than the wings especially when programming for a trip. With Bluetooth, XM radio, abs standard, traction control, electric windscreen, etc. The $23.999 price tag in 2013 was awesome compared to my abs wing of nearly $29, 000 in 2010. It would take Honda years to catch up while they only came out with new paint schemes instead of what customers were asking for. When the new wing finally came out, it had less storage, making it necessary to have to lock your helmet from the handlebars. It lacked the robustness of previous models. Many current and former wing riders consider the new wing a shadow of its former self. For me, it was far too little, and far too late!

I own a K1600 GT, and have been considering looking at the Goldwing DCT. This review will be very interesting for me to watch and hear you’re opinions between both bikes.

That BMW is a beauty. The dash is quite appealing.

Sir, I love your videos!

I am a BMW guy with three, and an over the road truck driver. I am enjoying the view from a screen instead from the windshield.

$7.00 a gallon is still cheaper, than what we're paying for gas here in Germany. We're approx. $8.00, plus depending.

The only advantage BMW has is more power and a tiny bit better handling. Goldwing has the upper hand in so many ways. Including… Reliability, 87 octane gas, no specialty tools or software, cheaper labor rates and not over engineered with plastic parts designed to fail. Heck if I had lots of expendable income I would probably add a BMW to my collection 😁

This is the Cruiseman that I like, out there putting down some heavy MI's (miles). I look forward to this adventure. Ride safe.

Take two 1-liter bottles of frozen water with you when you take off in the morning. You’ll have ice water to drink the whole way.

After a failed purchase of a denim blue 2022 Gold Wing Bagger (cancelled order by importer), I picked up a manhattan metallic 2022 K 1600 B and don't regret the lack of DCT.
