Dan Durston introduces the X-Mid 1 ultralight tent. The X-Mid 1 uses the patented X-Mid geometry to create the best all around 1 person ultralight backpacking tent. While weighing just 28 oz (800 g) it provides a highly stormworthy shelter that is spacious and simple to use.

As an incredibly well rounded tent, the X-Mid 1 is the ideal tent for everything from a thruhike on the Appalachian Trail to remote adventures in the Alaskan wilderness.

I have the original X-Mid 1 from back when it was sold exclusively through Massdrop. I have probably half a dozen other tents, but this one remains my favorite. Such simplicity and elegant design. Hard to improve on (near) perfection!

I have the XMID 1 P SOLID, i did the "tour du mont blanc", and use it in the "vosges" hills in France (little french canada), and I absolutely love this tent.
I'm tall (1m83cm...convert !), i 'm not wet anymore withe the double layer, i' m over with single roof, i love how easy to set up, i love the magnets, i love to use only 4 stakes, in good weather. Some of us think the tent is swingin in bad condition, but i regret, i don't notice that. The tent is stucked at the ground. I have enough room inside for my clothes etc....and lol so roomy into the apses. One side for the backpack, one for food. And it's compactable into the bag. I think my ultimate 1P tent. Absolutely nothing to regret.
I recommand the solid version, that's really a nest event at summer.

It's a brilliantly designed tent.

Used my x mid1 on a week long trip and love its ease of setup and sturdiness without a bunch of guy lines. Look forward to my next night in the tent.

Ive got a solid x-Mid for UK and used it for past 2 weeks on my 300km(~190miles) West Highland Way + Great Glen Way here in Scotland(mid September)...as you can imagine it can be pretty wild out here!!! and I was caught 2-3 times in some nasty veryyy rainy and windy(20-45+mph gusts) weather...I was so happy at that times to have a tent that is super quick to set up and to hide inside... I was a bit scared few times and had to use all my 12 pegs to bolt it to the ground but It held just fine in that stormy wind/rain(400m above Loch Ness view point or above Inverness).
The only problem for me was - the inner ground was getting wet few times while lying in the tent under my mat and underneath my items too and I had to use my towel and sponge to kinda wipe the water/moisture etc but I dont think its tent failure, It probably happens in any tent where we have warm stuff and mattress pad and set up tent on wet cold ground so its just a condensation that cannot be avoided. I think.
I also had a rodent(rat or something) at night that made few holes in my inner and mesh as well so I need to path them with something permanently but its also my fault for keeping food inside...lesson learned I guess.
Anyway, love the tent and even more with my few custom mods so I will continue to use it all over Scotland for a long time, hopefully haha

I imported one of these to the UK (Scotland) and I was not disappointed with it, it is a very good design and light too. This could only have been designed by someone who uses tents alot and has thought of the practical detail. It would also be worth showing the tent pitching with the two super light carbon poles that can be bought as extras, these are very compact and ideal if you do bikepacking without trekking poles. Also, if you do hikes from a base camp situation, you can take these poles and use these to keep the tent pitched for about 100g each, not much additional weight.

I love my 1p and it has done amazingly well on the PCT this year. I hopped off trail early, about 150 miles in to WA, but my tent continued on with a trail family member when her freestanding tent began to fail. She loves the Xmid and has become a believer! I just recently bought another Durston tent because you can’t have just one. I can’t wait to take my new 2p solid out on its first adventure next week and put it to the “shoulder season” test in the Wallowas!

Just tried mine I'm impressed so far. If it can do a day or two in the hills of Scotland I'm a happy chap

For those tarp fanatics out there, the X-Mid 1 (and 2) are great in "fly only" mode paired with (or without) the Durston Groundsheet. We think the modularity of the shelter gives you a lot to work with for one purchase.

Well designed UL tent and the price is not just a bargain, its a steal. I've beat the heck out of my current one on many trips and definitely plan on getting another one soon. Thx for such a great tent.

Love my X-mid 1, my first and only backpacking tent so far and really happy with my decision. One day I'll shell out for a pro-2 version.
