Thankfully we've been getting the normal afternoon thunderstorms so far this summer, here in Nokomis. Last summer was brutal. Hot and no rain, but unless I'm misremembering, it was still humid. So basically the worst of all worlds, haha

Hi Sulcata grove, it looks like a rest year for many trees; I thought I might have a few first time fruit on a couple varieties, but they dropped off a while ago. oh well, another full year of the trees putting on size hopefully results in a decent crop next year. That ice cream is incredible, one of the best. Enjoy!

Awesome farm tour. Sulcata Grove is an inspiration for my fledgling backyard orchard just south in port Charlotte.

I’ve lived in Florida for most of my life and the last two years have been the driest I’ve ever seen. It’s getting ridiculous. Normally around this time of the year it would be raining every day and you could barely go outside for months because it would be raining constantly. I do not remember ever being in late May going into June without a single drop of rain.

Thanks for the update! My area in Tampa Bay hasn’t received rain since February as well. Can you ripen mangoes that fell off, on the counter, at this stage of development? It’s sad to see them drop. Thanks!

hey are you guys near the coast? I’m inland a bit, and seems many varieties don’t do well away from the coast without spraying chemicals

I'm up in Weeki Wachee but I'm looking to move to a 10a-b zone. Looking at both east and west coast. Where are you located? I'll be visiting friends in Sarasota soon and I'm definitely interested in looking at properties in the area where I can create another food forest. Appreciate any info 😊

Hopefully Florida will follow Tennessee and outlaw stratospheric aerosol injections blocking our rain.

Have you tried thinning the fruit to reduce alternate year bearing, or does that not work with some varieties?

I'm in the Ft Pierce/Vero area and my tree's even with a second bloom got decimated by Powdery Mildew this year. I was spraying Sulfur and it did not help this year.
