Been using an M2 MacBook Air for about 2 months now, mainly for music production and DJ mixes, it has been handling it surprisingly well and the battery is insanely good.

Literally just bought a 13" M2 Air on sale. 18 hours vs 19 hours and a couple of nano seconds opening Reminders probably won't be enough to sway me to upgrade. I think I'm more excited about all the reviews!

I just bought the base M1 MB Air a little over a month ago and by the sounds of it hearing how low-performing M2 and M3 is compared to M1, I'm glad I went with the M1. I don't have much to complain about other than ports. I would like to see either an SD card reader or USB-A, I don't need HDMI but that would be a plus. Other than ports, I have no desire to save up for the MB Pros.

Given the heat of the M3 Mackbook Pro with a regular M3 (and fan), they either add a better heatspreader than the M2 Air, or, the M3 Air will be heat limited.

M3 also chokes on 8GB RAM, possibly because of dynamic cache; but even the M2 Air is pretty limited at 8GB. Probably ought to take whatever "base model" price they advertise and add $200 for the 16 GB RAM upgrade with possibly another $200 just to get to 512 GB onboard storage to avoid the single NAND chip slow storage as well.

Not sure how you overlooked the existence of a fan on the 14 inch M3 MBP. Especially when these chips can drastically drop in performance when hot.

I've used an M1 8MB MBA for the past 3 years, and it's been a revelation. I don't edit video but use it mainly for office-type work away from home. I sometimes do a bit of photo editing and have regular multipoint video linkups. The revelation is two-fold: firstly I can open it up, touch the fingerprint sensor and it's immediately ready to go. Secondly, the battery life. I never need to run it off mains power. I've never run out of juice. And its always stone cold.

I don't need more power. So what improvements can Apple make to tempt me to replace this MBA? I note that M2 and M3 machines have a 'low-power' setting, and it would be interesting to see what is sacrificed in this mode. How much extra battery life would this give? I can't see my spreadsheets being compromised, and I could quickly revert to normal mode if really needed.

YouTube reviews mostly look for raw power for elaborate video editing, after all, that's their job. But what about us more traditional users?

Hope they bump the ram and ssd on the base model for the M3. I hate how you have to go for 512Gb+ storage to get faster speeds.

I'm waiting on the M3 MacBook Air release before I make my decision whether to go buy it or go for a M3/Pro/Max MacBook Pro.

This may be sacrilegious to say.. But I think the M3 Macbooks have the potential to be one of the best mobile gaming laptops if Apple were to really take gaming seriously.. I've had multiple gaming laptops for the past 5 years and the 2 things I absolutely hate about them is the noise and the bulk.. Most gaming laptops, along with their chargers, are so cumbersome to log around that I barely consider them as portable, they're pretty much useless without a charger and they can get so noisy that you're pretty much required to use headphones.. The M3 Macbooks have the same performance regardless if it's plugged in, it's USB-C so you only have to carry one cable and power brick for all your things and it doesn't get as noisy as other Windows Gaming Laptops so you don't have to wear headphones if you don't want to..

I just want space black and m3 base silicone on new 2024 air. I am gonna buy it If they do but I dont think they will give us Black color cause MacBook Pro m3 base silicone.

I am in the market for a new computer after years of service of my old HP. I want to change to apple as I already own a 2023 iPad pro and an apple phone. my uses are pretty simple, I write a lot on my HP. watch movies and downloads of old TV shows which I store on my 1 tb external FAT drive and my high res and flac music on my other FAT drive. I have an external tube amp and speakers.

I really like the air 15" with 512 internal SSD and 16g of ram. Is it worth me waiting for these M3 models or simply go ahead with the one I'm looking at already. I believe I can connect my present external hard drives on the MAC. I use a powered hub so that I can just use can use just on port on the computer so i would use and USB to USBc adapter in one of the USBc slots on the mac. Any advice would be gratefully received.

One of the real issue seems to be if there are fans on the 24 version of the air.
