Jake Sullivan offered his *condolences* to the Israeli victims of a "terrorist attack" as well as to the _lone_ Palestinian killed by shrapnel falling in the West Bank. So he can express sympathy for _one_ Palestinian but not for the _more than_ 41, 000 Palestinians killed and thousands injured by Israeli bombs? Does he assume that the lone Palestinian deserves condolences simply because the individual was the victim of stray shrapnel from an _Iranian_ missile rather than an _Israeli_ one?🤷🏾‍♂

Sullivan *has it backward:* instead of characterizing Iran's missile strikes on Israel as a _"significant _*_escalation_*_ by Iran, "_ he should have called it "the significant _retaliation_ by Iran." Iran's missile strikes were a response to "the significant _escalation_ *by Israel"* that began with the _assassination_ of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, on Iranian soil. This event constituted *two* violations: 1) the killing of a prominent party to the cease-fire and 2) the violation of Iran's sovereignty. Israel went further by killing _another_ Iranian general in the process of assassinating Hassan Nasrallah and injuring an Iranian official in the _terrorist_ detonations of mobile devices.
