Thoughts on Forza 6: Apex Beta for PC

At long last there's a Forza Motorsport game on the PC! It's for Windows 10 and DirectX 12 only, but still, it's about time. Taking a look at the feature set of the May 2016 beta!

Love how MS locks this game to DX12 despite the original on the Xbox one being a DX11 game. I guess they will do any thing to get users over to Windows 10.

I will say though as a fan of the Forza series myself, I think that this is more of a guinea pig to a better and more complete Forza game in the future. Seeing how Microsoft is noticing more and more players transitioning to PC. a full-on Forza Horizon game will come soon, or any full Forza Motorsport game itself!

I just finished playing it and omg, the game looks absolutely STUNNING. I had it maxed out on 2k resolution playing at 60fps. Lacks content but the fact that it's free, no complaints:)

Uhhhh, I got really excited the first 30 seconds then I heard "Windows 10" and "Micro-transactions" and all my enthusiasm turned into disappointment and hate...

Right now I'm stuck on the Japanese pack in Assetto Corsa. I'm addicted on the C1 Japan Shutoexpressway it's like a drug.

Got this for xbone for my little brother after he got his wisdom teeth out. He played for 10 hours straight. He was a zombie. We both grew up with racing games so they always have a special place in our hearts. They just keep getting more and more beautiful huh? I'd love to check out the pc one with the optimized graphics.

Hm, I might boot up Windows 10 again to try it out, but I hope that they follow this up with a full-priced release without microtransactions soon.

Until then I shall treat it as a free demo.

When I was younger, I was a huge Gran Turismo fan. When I got my first Forza I was turned into a believer and never looked back. Now that I've turned to PC instead of buying a new console it is one of the franchises I sorely miss on the platform so I hope for a brighter future in which we get a full Forza release. While the racing sims on the PC are good, none sadly matched the awesome customization of Forza which I so enjoyed.

I played forza 6 a fair bit a long time ago on my old Xbox one. It was alright. I wasn’t as much into the more realistic side of racing games. Preferred an arcade racer. But I got this the other day and it’s great. Actually having the challenge of controlling your car to stay on the track is challenging but engaging. Also the graphics stand up. It’s especially great playing it at 120+ fps in hdr. It’s definitely lacking considering it’s big boy brother forza 6, but apex is a great game I’d say. :)

At the very least it's nice to know that from this point on all future Forza sequels will get a proper release on both PC and Xbox.

Forza 6 Apex is an overglorified tech-demo. Turn 10 practically stated this throughout its announcement.

What I'm really excited for is the release of other Forza games on PC, and not just their stripped-down counterparts.

The fact you get so much for free is amazing. It could have been just one car and one track with everything else as a microtransaction but 60+ cars and multiple tracks all weighing in at about 20+ GB for FREE! The complaints about the missing features in this video are not really complaints for me because I don't really use those features anyways. Also if you don't like micro transactions, you can get the "Premium" version of the game for $16.99. I think this is a great option for PCs that can run it. Heads and tails above all the other "free" racing games in the Windows 10 store.
