Jack White rescues Paramount Records archives

Jack White is best known for his days in the retro garage rock band, The White Stripes. For his latest project, White is reaching way back to the early 1900’s and acting as a musical historian with the release of "The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records," which is up for a Grammy Award on Monday night. Anthony Mason reports.

I have made the comment, over my 43 years, as many of you have, that any number of musicians are great, underappreciated, fantastic ambassadors for music. Jack White is IMPORTANT to music, and to the preservation of the roots of American music. I have never said that before, about any other artist. It was an epiphany I had during this short video. Third Man Records, and the work that the entire staff does, is one of the most important artistic preservation projects in the world. I wish I had the talent to have afforded me the opportunity to be a part of this process. I am just so happy that so many people did. For my soul, this is beauty incarnate. Thanks abound for everyone at Third Man Records.

Wow, just learned about Paramount today, here. What an important part of American music history to preserve. Really fascinating and for these Artist's to be recognised and remembered.
