Many people don’t understand when we that live in California say the $ amount of our property taxes that amount doesn’t just include the taxes for the property our home sets on it also includes city tax, county tax, school tax, etc. etc. I also live in Southern California. I agree 100% with you that the taxes are high. So I feel your pain.

Great video. I agree that $1k isn't really an emergency fund. It is a start. I'm adding to mine when I can. I think 3 months pay is a good emergency fund for 1 person. Have a great week. I enjoyed your video.

Your property taxes are comparable to NJ, or our taxes may be even higher so I wasn’t surprised when I saw the $15k in property tax.

I have a "life happens" and an "oh shit" envelope. I've decided that life happens if for say a friend gets dumped and wants to have wine, take out and ice cream. Minor emergencies. Where my oh shit envelope is for say my house gets flooded and I lose a lot of my stuff or my car explodes and I don't have enough to get a new one. I find it really reassuring to have a little buffer for those. I got both up to $2000AUD and now only put 5 or 10 in them every week that way I can cover anything that could possibly come up
