US tariff exemption for Australia 'likely'

Former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney suggests a US steel and aluminium tariff exemption for Australia is “likely”.

“I get the feeling that the exemption is likely because the circumstances they get rise to the exemption eight years ago still exist today,” Mr Mulvaney said.

“Australia actually has a trade deficit with the United States … Australia is doing everything that Donald Trump says he wants countries overseas to do.

“I’m still cautiously optimistic that the exemptions will be forthcoming.”

it’s not going to be popular in 6-12 months time when theirs no one willing to do the low paying jobs the US has built its economy on. The only way to fix the problem is to raise wages but all that does is fuel inflation, If Trump keeps it going the US and Russia will have more in common as both their economies crash.
