A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science has revealed that the spiny rat, a rodent species native to Japan, has evolved a new male-determining gene as its Y chromosome disappeared. This discovery offers hope for human survival as our own Y chromosome faces potential extinction in the coming millions of years.

Genes matter for protein synthesis, not which chromosome they are located on. Yes, relocation from Y-chromosome to any other (including X-chromosome) will take time but we have 11 million years for evolution to take care of this problem. A lot can change (for good or for worse) due to human innovations (e.g. rapid evolution driven by AI in genetic engineering - e.g. good looking mixed-gender bi-sexual *designer babies* if laws and regulations are not keeping up with the rapidly growing technology landscape).
