As a school bus rider, I can confirm that this is 100% true that other kids do this.

Back when I was in high school, funds were low so the bus had to pick up elementary school students as well. One day we had a substitute bus driver, and for some reason I was the only high schooler on the bus that day. I sat by myself in the back most of the time, but today, the sub driver kept stopping the bus and SCREAMING at me because he assumed I was standing up while the bus was moving, instead of just… me being exceptionally taller than the nine and ten year olds I was riding with. He got so angry that he forced me to sit in the front seat. The look on his face when he saw me sitting and realized I was simply a good deal taller than the others was clear, but even then he refused to admit fault and just did his job until he reached my stop.
