Five Things I Hate About My Acura RDX

I do actually like my Acura RDX but these are the five things I hate about it. Some are trivial, some are actually quite annoying. Drop a comment and let me know what you hate about your vehicle.

Best car ever owned. 8 years running, no issues. Only changed oil and had brakes resurfaced with new pads. Lowest maintenance costs for a luxury SuV.

The reason why it won’t let you shift into first gear is so that you won’t blow your engine. The first gear is extremely short. Other luxury SUVs are the exact same.

If those are really the only drawbacks to the RDX then it must be a pretty good car overall. I'm considering getting one of these pre-owned with 30k miles for around $26k-$27k.

I like the long floor mat- keep the middle area between the seat clean- I disagree on that point

Here are some additional things.
- normally when you shut the engine, the radio stays on t’il you open the door. Not on these. The only way around it is to shift in neutral, shut off engine and shift back to park.
- the navigation and backup screen sucks ass. Especially at night.
- no 12v outlet in trunk area. Cheap out.
- I’m a driveway detailer and hate how the water keeps seeping out of the tailgate
- the rear wiper could have been tucked under the upper lip
- 2017 elite with no heated steering?
- cannot heat the seats with remote start.

With all that said though I love my RDX. Good power, good fuel economy, comfortable, excellent headlights, roomy enough for its class, ages we’ll, good resale value.

Video Summery: 30 something year old upper middle class white male complains his $40, 000 SUV has memory seats that will not let him select a different saved position while the car is moving, has a navi screen that doesn't have the resolution of his $1000 Iphone, that which also has a navigation app that he could use, has too long of a rear floor mat that take an extra 10 to 15 seconds to reinstall, has a transmission that will not let him select 1st gear manually for whatever reason you would want to select 1st gear other then when you come to a complete stop which the transmission will do on its own anyway, has a back up camera that makes his highly manicured lawn look like shit, and lastly has an automatic climate control system that is too loud while trying keep him cool and comfortable. I recommend you sell your RDX and put the money towards a bus pass.

Anyone who has driven stick knows never to go into first gear while moving. So #5 is a safety feature to save the transmission

My biggest gripe about my 2014 Acura RDX is when you’re using Bluetooth music it is lagged by a full 3 seconds. My passenger likes watching sitcoms during long trips, imagine watching when something hilarious happens on screen and laughter coming a full 3 seconds later.

You should not be adjusting your seat as you drive. That's why it only allows a manual adjustment so it does not push u right up against the steering wheel. It's safety issue.

The screen resolution and back up cam color was bad. I like the fact that it's a one piece mat. Look at it, it covers well, unlike the 2 piece mat covers.

At least yours came with a spare. My 2021 RDX doesn't even have room for one lol

Have a 2018 RDX and man it cannot handle bumps at all. Also fights me alot more than I would like when driving at slower speeds.

The 2 things I hate about my 2015 Acura RDX is the headlights SUCK! I literally have to use my high beams while driving at night. There is virtually no light coming from the low lights. The second thing is the camera. Low resolution and quality.

I have an identical 2015 RDX Tech and I also have a 2013 Honda Accord Touring.. the $35, 000 top trim Honda has more technology AND a better infotainment system than the top trim Acura.. they were both released at the same time!

It takes 5+ years to develop a vehicle, so when you purchase it, you're buying 5+ year old tech.

Wow you are picky! My only complaint on my 2017 RDX is the glove box. The design is horrible - everything falls out of it when you open the door. The rear floor mat is fine. The rear camera color? No big deal. And the spare tire? Most cars don't even come with a tire anymore! My A/C compressor is not loud at all. And as far as your key fob is concerned, don't leave home with the wrong one and problem solved!
