Thanks for a very thorough review Les. We have since updated our setup instructions and made some reviews to the process. There is no longer any need for the firmware update. We are still very happy to receive further suggestions for how we can improve this process though. I'm also sorry about the issue you had with the printing on your HOME button, we have since changed to silicone rubber for the buttons with super durable print. I'll get in touch to organize a replacement for you.

My experience (in January) setting up the GNS530 and GNS430 in Prepar3D pretty much echoes the same pain points you mentioned. Once up and running, the RealSimGear devices are really nice to have. Unfortunately, those oversights in the setup instructions for Prepar3D are the kind of first impressions that are hard to forget and over the long term might end up chasing away some potential/repeat customers — not good for business that serves what is already a niche market.

Going through round two of troubleshooting now that my GMA350 audio panel has arrived. Hoped it would be plug-and-play with Prepar3D (now 4.5) since I already had the GNS units, but no such luck.

Happily, no QC issues with the buttons on any of my units. Good news/bad news is that it suggests you probably got the unlucky one that snuck past the QC check rather than cosmetic defects being a common experience.

Would that be a resistive-touch display, rather than a capacitive-touch, in the RealSimGear GTN750? If it responds to pressure inputs from anything (e.g. a plain ol’ pencil eraser), it is resistive; if it requires a finger or stylus, probably capacitive. Resistive is the older, cheaper, less sensitive/precise technology, but it’s fine as long as it does the job. I haven’t seen a Garmin GTN in person, so it would be a blind guess on my part in figuring they probably use capacitive-touch; for what those units cost, it ought to be the good stuff!

This is probably a good review, but why did you not film in a lit room so we could see what you were doing and the quality of the screen?

Im here from the future and new simmer and thought for these prices I would just buy it and plug it in and it works. That said, have things changes as of late 2021?
I dont really want to deal with all these issues and if I bought their bundle with the auto pilot Im already in for $850 which is a good way toward a g1000 setup.
So three questions:
Do you know if things got easier now?
Does this really over the radio, transponder and GPS
Would you buy this again or save your money toward a g1000 (assuming you want an Pilot etc)

Thanks in advance!

If you run your sim in windowed mode is there blue header bar when you drag the 750 over?

Quite a professional looking bit of flight gear, but the cost of a touch screen, couple of buttons and encoders is quite expensive, I have made something similar for just under 50gbp

Why is it necessary that the item is not sharp?

was going to order this until I saw your review. for $500 it shouldn't be that much work to make it work
