A newborn baby shocked her mother when she was caught on camera getting up and crawling in her hospital bed — at just three days old.

Samantha Mitchell told Kennedy News that her daughter Nyilah Daise Tzabari was crawling and supporting her own head just days after birth, making her feel like she’s “never had a newborn.”

“I’ve babysat most of my life and have over 20 years’ experience with children and I’ve never seen anything like this before,” Mitchell, 34, admitted. “I guess I’ve never been around many babies at three days old so there are a lot of nuisances in it but I have never seen a baby like this ever.”

“The video was taken when Nyilah wasn’t even a full three days old. She was two and a half days old,” she clarified.

Mitchell ran to film her daughter — born three weeks late at 43 weeks on February 27, 2023, at 9:22 p.m. at 7 lbs 6 oz — doing the impossible because she know her friends and family would never believe her when she told them her newborn was crawling.

My daughter was 2 week’s early but the day she was born she lifted her head and shoulders off the crib and turned to look at me, she did this often and was sitting independently at 4 1/2 months. She’s 30 now and continues to be really independent and determined 😂

Oh, she’s got things to do! lol…adorable. My son, literally, pushed himself out of my body. Once they laid him on my chest, he kept digging his feet in and pushing forward, bumping his head into my chin. We were like, “Whoa dude, you’re out already. He never crawled. At 7 months, he just stood up and started walking.

This is a natural instinct for a newborn to do …they’re capable of crawling up a mothers stomach to reach for the breast. You can see that this gorgeous baby girl is rooting for the breast .As a Midwife it amazes me how strong they can be. But this beautiful baby I think is going to be a very strong and determined girl. she knows what she wants!!🥰🥰

My baby boy was holding his head up to look at me the day he was born. 3 hours after being born, I was holding him and he lifted his head up to look at me and continued to do so from that day on. ❤

My son nearly rolled off the hospital bed on day 2. He rolled three times. He was 11 days overdue. It’s crazy! Some babies are just strong little ones.

2 hours later, the baby got up, thanked the mother, and walked home.

She’s definitely rooting—she’s trying to find a breast, which is part of why she’s bobbing up and down. It’s the reflex newborns have to climb up their mothers to get to the breast. What a wonderful little baby :)

My newborn started crawling 10 mins after birth, walking at 3 days old, and sprinting by week 1, at 1 month he was already driving 🥰 they grow up so fast

That baby is not crawling. She's in the prone position and is trying to roll over, which is generally a more comfortable position for a newborn. A few minutes of tummy time every now and then is fine. But if they're still in the hospital it's too soon. Since this baby is 3 days old and still in the hospital, there is probably something else going on, which makes this even more concerning. Leave your baby on their back unless directed otherwise.
