Thanks for the review. It helped me to decide I wouldn’t want the NUC without a third party case, because it’s too noisy... and I might consider building a Ryzen equivalent with a passive heatsink case, like the Streacom FC8 Alpha...

I searched for Reaper and NUC and this is the video that popped up.

My question is will it work ok for recording on Reaper? I am currently using an old Haswell Pentium G3256 system with a Creative PCIe x1 sound card for the line input for my guitar.

I typically record 2-3 tracks of guitars, a bass track, and a drum track, and I was wondering if I will face any issues with latency on this machine?

I am using an old computer, but it does have a good creative labs sound blaster, which itself is about 11 years old.

I want to downsize, and would be delighted if I could continue to record basic tracks on a new NUC 11 Phantom core with no latency issues.

Any thoughts/info would be most appreciated.

I've been eyeballing the Core i5 to use as my recording machine. Question for you, when you're recording with Reaper, how many cores is it typically hammering on and what kind of fan volumes are you hearing? As long as the NUC can handle what I need I plan on getting a fanless case for later this summer so I can go full silent PC.

Any solution to overheating issues ? My unit reaches 100C when heavily loaded, throttling starts, but is there any SAFE and easy readymade solution for a better cooling ? I want to sell it in few months, so modifications to the chasis (holes etc) are out of scope.

very interesting. i'm going to pick up a mini pc for a hackintosh build. was looking at the asrock deskmini 310, but the nuc is so much more compact

Hi, which version of the Intel graphics driver are you using? Mine seems to flicker when running Windows 10. It's fine when I use Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
