@b0w5er No, because the object isn't touching the portals' frames, so it can't enact force back onto them. It would create a paradox of potential energy!

Anyway, try this: place a floating object between two portals facing eachother, then slam them into eachother, encompassing the object in the process. Does it crash?
It should either crash or glitch, because that's a notorious physics conundrum!

@smatteringofapplause Not exactly. The object will probably hit itself and you won't be able to move the portals anymore. That's what would happen in real life if portals were real.

I have to say the exact opposite. From what I know, time reversal is quite easy. Portals are impossibly hard, however.
