About the AFI Life Achievement Award:
The highest honor given for a career in film, the AFI Life Achievement Award was established by the AFI Board of Trustees in 1973. Denzel Washington will receive the 47th AFI Life Achievement Award, celebrating his life and work. The special will air on TNT on Thursday, June 20, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by an encore at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. Sister network Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will also air the special in September, during a night of programming dedicated to Washington's work.

He's my favorite actor because at the beginning of the movie, maybe 5 min or so in you'll see Denzel, but after that little bit of time you'll see the character he becomes. You'll get lost in and it does inspire us. When he speaks he makes me want to lift my head a little higher and stick my chest out a little more. So this award is very well deserved.

The part on the Movie John Q when he says; "to accept what? To accept what? He aint gonna die" I didnt know much about Denzel, back then, but I just cried and cried like never before. I was a teenager, but I promised if I ever had a son I was gonna name him after Denzel, I'm Mexican and is funny when people asks for my son's name and I respond "his name is Denzel" now my son is 11 years old and he knows now why his name is not Jose or Antonio, he knows the history of his name! Thanks for existing Denzel!!!
