I found a use for the black keys surrounding the pads. For example my upper-left pad is a crash cymbal (note 57-A2). Now I programmed the 'Pad Mode' key to 58-A#2 (muted hit) with value 1. It kinda sounds like muting the cymbal with your hand.

question, all the Native Instrument kits have the same pad layout for every kit, which from bottom left has: Kick, Snare, HH, openHH. How can you change this globally?

For those of use really into prog rock/metal, do pad controllers with more than 16 pads exist? I'd want at least an extra row or two of pads for chinas, splashes, more toms, etc.

Oh wow my setup is veeeery similar. Infact pads 9 to 16 are identical. The differences come from the fact that I'm lefthanded and mostly play metal but still, I'm surprised how similar the thinking was.
