Bataan conducts RAS and VERTREP

MEDITERRANEAN SEA (March 13, 2014) Sailors and Marines aboard the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) conduct a replenishment at sea (RAS) and a vertical replenishment (VERTREP) at the same time. The Bataan Amphibious Readiness Group (ARG)is on a scheduled deployment supporting maritime security operations, providing crisis response capability and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 4th fleet area of operations. I'm not a "Navy guy" but was that a "typical" example of waves at sea? It looks like it would have been hazardous.
