Yo!! My buddy Bobby stopped by this afternoon and brought his collection of San Dimas guitars. They are so nice I thought I'd put together a quick video on them. I'm also checking out some more Guitar Rig 5 patches. Enjoy!

@reyeror There is no noticeable latency in the original video, but after I loaded it to YouTube I noticed that the audio/video sync is off a bit. I'm not sure I can correct that.

Nothing beats a quality guitar with hot pickups through a high wattage tube amplifier. Even at volume 4, my Charvel So Cal through my JCM2000 sounds glorious.

hi steve, what string gauge do you use? i just got a charvel/jackson model 2 in a pawn shop today and the strings feel a bit heavy for me, though might be cos it's a new guitar i'm not used to, and the strings are a bit old. cheers!

The sluggish volume knob you refer to a 16:00 is actually by design, perhaps a trade off for those who like to do volume swells. The bridge JB and neck 59 are actually legacy pickups because of how they perform. Specifically you can turn the volume half way down, and you still get distinction from the Duncans. You will be hard pressed to find any other humbucker that will maintain a resiliant dynamic range across the volume. If you experiment with clean channel you will find the you will get familiar sounding guitar tones all along the potentiometer. Try it, you will discover why the JB and 59 are classic, as you refer to.

They're all the San Dimas Style 1, but the first one is the newer model made in Japan. The second two are the USA ones that are no longer produced. The main way to spot them is the pickups. The USA ones use a pickup ring while the newer Japanese ones are screwed straight into the body.

Man Steve you actually look younger now than you did in 2011. Glad to see you are taking care of yourself you rock.

@JgHaverty The necks are different. The Charvel is a touch wider and flatter on the back. The Kramer is a little thinner, but more rounded on the back. They both are unfinished, though, and have that natural feel that I love.

So whats the deal with the guitar rig 5? is it just a software package or is it this multi pedal along with software im seeing for sale? Im looking to be able to record onto my laptop for minimal money. Ive got a BOSS ME-80, is there a simple way for me to record with that already? I know my guitars and gear and can edit a youtube vid with the best of them but I use Movie maker and never anything else.

No, the natural wood neck without finish did not start with Kramer in the 80s, it started with EVH in the 70s...
