I couldn't do this SCRATCH for 22 years until THIS TIP

So as I mentioned in previous videos, I could not do open fader scratches with normal crossfader mode for 22 years. Then after watching some 2-click flare tutorials online (links below), something stood out to me that my approach was all wrong. Then in a matter of a few days, it just clicked...pun intended! In this tutorial, I break down exactly what I did to quickly learn how to do basic flare scratch techniques!

" LOL " It took me 4ever to get my orbits down!!! " YEARS " Then one day it just clicked! ! ! I Felt like an idiot once i got the scratch down!!!(LOL) The amazing thing about being a DJ is it's 2021 and were still happy to learn a new technique or pattern! Shout outs to you " Pri yon Joni " and all the " REAL DJ"S " out there. . . I don't usually leave comment's but your platform is a positive 4 the " CULTURE " and I"m 20plus yrs in the game and still love walking past my turntables everyday!!! Hip-Hop keeps us young!!! (LOL) And your the definition of what this generation DJ-Wise needs 2 see. . . .

One of the biggest tips I learned was to try to keep your fader motion technique the same regardless of the scratch. It helped me understand combos a lot better

Man i'm so glad i kinda figured this out by myself by accident when i started moving from 1's to 2's last week, realised mentally its just a trasform starting open with a lil extra push and pull back at the top 😊

I actually learned how to scratch watching DJ Angelo's tutorials, you're already great as you are now so I'm not surprised you got it figured out but its always nice to see experienced DJ's to still try something constantly. Great explanation.

That was very very helpful. I took 20 years off from DJing to raise my children and now it's time to learn it's evolution; especially in the art of scratching.

Thank you! I started turntables at 11 years old and self taught. I stopped after 20 years and then discovered that I was trying to recreate this scratch the closed fader way! Like you, I was doing it wrong for decades much to the detriment of my wrist and frustrated brain — trying to push my hands beyond physics. 😂

love that you explain the thought process rather than just the technique, recon this will help

Hey man excellent video! Wow I really needed to hear this. Almost an identical story here, I've always been very strong and confident with closed fader scratches and I have had the similar hang ups.

I've gotten a lot better in the past few years forcing myself to do open fader drills, but this explanation was excellent for me personally. It's so weird how you can fundamentally understand the mechanics of a scratch but it really takes an ah-ha moment to find the right focus and muscle memory to make the training efficient for you personally.

Your cuts are incredibly clean for someone who recently learned this. I'm jealous of your chirp orbit combo and I'd love to see more videos of how you approach thinking about your combos. I'm gonna be practicing cleaning up my two clicks using this. Thanks for sharing this.

This is so brilliant this, brother let me tell you .. Man do we appreciate such people as YourSelf and guys like DjAngelo and Carlo Atendido. Always breaking it down in the best ways and super inspiring to so many out here. Strikes me as kinda funny too, how it's like we revolve in circles, round and round, every now and then hitting the spirals, that inspiration. Ya'll be sharing, saving & making peoples days with this. The content to get us more than content. Thank you

Interesting enough I discovered how to 2 click flare earlier this week for over roughly the same amount of years. Though to be fair I haven't touched my decks for over 12 years now. Only recently did I fix both tables to teach my younger cousin how to scratch.
Thank you for sharing what you've learned as I'm sure there are others who have hit and will hit that wall on the scratch journey.

I'm the creator of the Jetfuel Transformer scratch button and I've had the exact same issue with open fader scratches for ever as well. I'd love to compare issues Thanks for the video dude! DJ Jetfuel
