Efforts to unionize an Amazon warehouse in Alabama are officially over for now, after workers at a facility in Bessemer voted no to forming a collective bargaining unit. The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store union has accused Amazon of manipulating the vote and intimidating employees to say no to unionizing. It plans on challenging the results, while Amazon denies the allegations. Margaret O'Mara, a professor at the University of Washington who researches the history of tech companies, joins CBSN's Elaine Quijano to discuss.

You win some, you loose some. The richest man in the world, won again.

This is a huge loss for workers' rights and particularly those workers in Bessemer. If a business treats its workforce with respect, unions act to maintain an excellent worker-employer relationship.

Deck has been stacked against employees for 40 years. I would have been stunned if the vote went the other way and I understand these people desperately need help.

Amazon needs to address workers rights. Hear the stories from employees..totally unacceptable. Other AMZ regions have complained and was snuffed out.

Intimidation isn't a loss. It's a human rights violation

Conceptually forming an union is good, but it is a disaster in reality.

Unions benefit the people that run them not the workers.

Twisted irony here is the people who voted no won't be there in 3 weeks. Amazon's turn over is 89% the median for time worked is less than 1 year, to put that number into perspective the turn over rate avg per year 12-15% across the board.

In Alabama which has some of the lowest wages in the country amazon is great, everywhere else not so much.
