It's visually stunning, but if you actually pay attention, it falls apart. Which is pretty true for much of the ST. But I do like staring at it.

The fight scene is awesome just don’t look closely. One point Rey is stabbed by a praetorian and Daisy even acted out the scream and everything but the blade was just edited out and that’s it. Or both last standing praetorians decide to choke out their opponents, why does Star Wars do this I have no idea.

I remember there was a clip overanalyzing the duel between Obi Wan, Qui Gon and Maul on how many unnecessary swings, strikes, parries and blocks that don't even hit the opponents. But doesn't change the fact the duel was pretty.

It is definitely the most complicated and ambitious fight scene in all of Star Wars. It has over a dozen combatants and even when the numbers drop most of the time it is still two simultaneous 1 vs 3 fights, with long takes and the actors themselves doing the fighting. Overall its really impressive and the effort deserves respect.
That being said there are a few mistakes, most notably one of the guards disappearing weapon when they grapple Rey. The mistakes are there but all in all to me it is a really solid scene.

It was visually cool then there was the contrast of Rey, a Jedi who was fighting rage like a Sith, and Kylo, an apprentice to a "Sith Lord" fighting calmly and analyzing his surroundings like a Jedi. It looks cool, but it just dont make sense

I love it, but I don’t mind if others don’t. I do however mind people saying as you point out that the prequels choreography is so much better when its equally about the visuals over the “making sense”, in fact that carries through the whole nature of the series. It’s a space opera fairy tail, it’s never been about realism, that’s what makes Rogue One and Andor stand out so much.

Of course count Dooku is the most realistic duellist... Lee is probably one of the actors who did the most sword fights is movie history.

The idea is there but the performance....

The fight of these show was never the problem for me 😂😂😂

Also, Rey's using anger during that fight which is...a really dumb idea 'cause she's supposed to learn the Jedi way

The sequels have the same problem with it's choreography as many Disney+ shows have where it might look impressive until you start paying attention. The prequel choreography might be unrealistic but has a much better attention to detail. The Acolyte and the Ahsoka vs Baylan so far where the only times where I actually felt like Disney did a really good job with the choreography.

The way I see it, different sabres emit different “gravity” or weight. Lucas said they are “heavy”, but that doesn’t mean they want to fall to the ground heavy. It means they’re creating their own gravity as a machine that emits plasma in a holographic structure that is spinning so fast, external gravitic forces only have a cursory affect on it. Enough so it doesn’t float away like a UFO, which in theory, or according to Bob Lazar, work in a similar way. But that’s an entirely different conversation.

Think a large high speed electric drill. Holding it and waving it around when it's switched off ... Now turn it on and try it. Not all lightsabers would be created equally, or even be on the same settings for that matter. Different speeds and intensity for example.

As for the fight choreography, some of it is brilliant! Daisy and Adam are phenomenal, as are the stuntmen. It’s the direction for the guards to hang back do exhibition moves that makes it bad. They should be incapacitated instead of waiting their turn. It's a fight.. it's chaotic, not Cirque Soleil 😂

Usually striking doesn’t make it realistic, which is what makes it good

Also, this is both in canon and legends, but lightsabers do have a significant amount of weight, but those who use the force have it appear not as heavy to those who dont

It had a lot of potential, but I think whoever was in charge of choreographing and editing the scene just got lazy and didn’t really care about fixing these inconsistencies

Once you notice that the guard with two blades has the blade in his left hand disappear when he gets Rey in a headlock, you'll never be able to see the scene the same way again. This fight is deeply flawed, just like the rest of this movie.

the scene is visually pleasing and that's it, there are several scenes where the guards just do things for the sake of doing something, the scene where kylo stabs the guard after shoving the two other guards away and the armed guard that kylo goes to stab just throws his weapon away before even making contact with kylo's blade at all, there's also several scenes where Rey and Kylo give wide, unguarded spots that would definitely be a game over if they were struck but that guards opt to attack their less vital areas like arms or legs or better yet sometimes they just aim for the lightsaber blade, its just stupid

The Last Jedi being the most divisive Star Wars movie is quite the feat, since Attack of the Clones exists. Never thought I’d see THAT happen…

When I first watched it in theaters I was like "this is so good" and then I watched at home and saw all the errors and now it's a laughing stock for me

When Rey and Kyle are fighting the guards 1v1 it’s not bad, it’s when you get wide shots with tons of ppl that the problems are apparent
