Long Island City, Queens
Long Island City (LIC) is the westernmost residential and commercial district of Queens, New York City. It is bordered by Astoria to the north the East River to the west the new Calvary Cemetery in Sunnyside to the east and Newtown Creek, which separates Queens from Greenpoint, Brooklyn to the south.
Long Island City is the eastern terminus of the Queensboro Bridge, the only non toll car route connecting Queens to Manhattan. Northwest of the bridge is Queensbridge Residences, a New York City Housing Authority development and the largest public housing complex in the Western Hemisphere.
Long Island City is bounded by Queens 1 to the north and Queens 2 to the south. It is patrolled by the NYPD's 108th Precinct. Politically, Long Island City is represented by the New York City Council's 26th District.
Far Rockaway is a neighborhood on the eastern Rockaway Peninsula in the Queens borough of New York City. It is the eastern most point of the Rockaways.
The neighborhood stretches east from Beach 32nd Street to the Nassau County Line. Its southern boundary is the Atlantic Ocean; this is one of the nearby neighborhoods
Rockaway Beach.
The Rockaway Beach Spur is a railroad owned and operated by the Long Island Rail Road in Queens, New York City, United States. The line leaves the main line at the Whiteport Junction at Rego Park, travels south through Ozone Park, across Jamaica Bay to Hamels in Rockaway, and turns west to its terminus at Rockaway Park. En route, it connects to the Montauk branch near Glendale, the Atlantic branch near Woodhaven, and the Far Rockaway branch at Hammels.
The Far Rockaway Branch is an electric railroad and service owned and operated by the Long Island Rail Road in upstate New York.
Beach Channel Drive is the main thoroughfare on the Rockaway Peninsula in the Queens borough of New York City. It runs west from the Nassau County line in Inwood to the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge at the end of Jacob Ris Park. Westward from Hammels, it follows Jamaica Bay on the northern side of the peninsula.
Opened on November 27, 1927, Beach Channel Drive is a relatively short street west of the current site of the Transbay Veterans Memorial Bridge.
