I once saw a people at a church playing fire tetherball. They took the tether ball off of its rope and put tp in its place, lighting it on fire and hit it around with tennis rackets, the only protection they had were goggles and rain jacket looking things. They even asked us to play.

I'm pretty sure that the reason flaming soccer is played is because it's played at night. During Ramadan, you're not allowed to eat or drink during the DAY, but at night you can still eat drink, so it's probably a good opportunity to take advantage of the time they have to have fun and be active. Still don't know why the ball has to be on fire though lol.
