I just got this off of Mercari for like $12.00. Works pretty good. Can't beat that price for a HD camcorder. That 300X digital zoom is crazy.

Good review. At least this model has a touch-screen, an InfoLithium battery, and a DC power input, unlike Sony's newer low-end HD models like the CX230 and CX240 which have been *really* cheapened-out.

I have this cam and love it! It has been dropped many times and still works fine! I ordered a new more expensive odd name cam. I went outside and compared the two and place both films in my iMovie and the new one was grainy and the zoom was jumpy! I sent that new junk back! My question is if I want to film record my music keyboard in the middle of the night, what do I need to connect directly to the Handycam sound wise to record quietly? Thx. (for any musical techs, I have the Scariet 2i4 interface. Can that be used in this process?)

I just bought this at a pawn shop for $15 flat. They mislabeled it and I took it. Not bad for what I paid.

Great review. I have the same camera. Whenever I film a video that is 30 minutes long then I upload it to my laptop it shows up as a few different videos. Do you have any clue why it does this?

I mean no disrespect, but it sounds like your biggest gripes with this camera are the lack of physical goodies and I totally agree. The touchscreen is flimsy, the screen doesn't always turn on in a timely manner on opening, if you close it and then opening it it bugs and all. However, have you tried cranking up the video options in the settings? That may be your issue as far as bad video quality goes; you can record at either very low HD or it may even be SD in the "Long Play" and next up out of four quality settings, that may be your issue. 

And, the memory stick duos are pointless. Sony just had to make a proprietary card for their systems (looking at you, PSP) rather than let us use SD cards that are better. Memory Sticks aren't bad, just they're pointless. At least you can use both here, so if you have some laying around you can use them - just make sure they'll fit into your PC.

8GB small for a hard drive? Nowadays, yes, but I've still got one of the as dirt and twice as wormy IBM Microdrive compact-flash (uses the port but it's not flash) cards, it's a small one-gig hard drive made for high-end DSLRs many years ago. :)
