I was reading these books decades ago. Everyone around me ridiculed me. I became totally discouraged and stopped. I wish I had been smart enough to get away from people instead of dropping my goals.

Love love love your videos. No throbbing music. No relentless giggles. No fluff to extend video time. Just tons of great info and straight to the point. Thank you so much.

I read money secrets of the Amish by Lorilee Cracker every year. It has some advice but what I really get out of it is a counter cultural attitude towards money that keeps me motivated. We are constantly being encouraged to spend, to purchase new things and this book keeps me from buying into that. Amish people are more impressed by people who live within their means and make do than people with a shiny new car and big house ( perhaps impressed is not the word but you get my meaning). It is an attitude they value. Popular culture has it all wrong.

Hello prepper princess, happy to see you. I have changed a lot of things in my life because of your videos when it comes to saving money, I am unplugged everything at night and try to use natural light during the day. And I make sure that I don't waste food. hopefully these type of changes will get me to a point where I can buy a house cash just like you. Love you 💜

I rent rooms in alarger house. I live in the back. Have my own space. 4 baths 3 kitchens 5 rented bedrooms. Income 3500 per month. Mortgage 1200. Cheap is relative.

I love my little stash of books. My youngest son got into them and absorbed them and in many ways is following them. He has a FT and a PT job, no debts other than utility bills, paid off car, he doesn't have a credit card and has money in the bank besides. My stash of books has helped get over some tough spots as well. I did learn one thing that is very important. Unless you find a spouse with a mindset just like yours, it is hard to live the lifestyle that you want to when you have a spouse.

You remind me of my frugal, immigrant mother. She was a master of making so much out of almost nothing. Whether it was food, clothing, or any home economics, she was amazing. So are you.
I learned a lot from her, and it all payed off (pardon the pun😊)

I used to get the Tightwad Gazette when it was a newsletter in the 1990s from start to finish. I actually submitted ways to save on electric and she put it in her newsletter. She took the newsletters and made them into those books.

Yes! The Tightwad Gazette books are great. I've read them multiple times and learned many money saving strategies when I was first out on my own in my 20s.

Thriftbooks. I've been using several years. I recently bought a book for under $10 where Amazon wanted almost $50. I couldn't believe the price difference. I don't like shopping Amazon for anything unless there are no other options. Thank you for the great book recommendations.

I volunteer at our local Friends of the Public Library. Books are sold for $1-$2. Money used to buy new library supplies. Good for community too!

Thank you Prepper Princess! My library opened for pick up only on selected hours during a couple of days of the week. You request the books on the library’s website and they call you when the book is ready for curbside pick up. Many libraries have inter-library loan which gives you access to books outside your library. You pick up and drop those books at your library. It is very convenient.

I think that Tightwad Gazette makes you to think before buying, contemplate substitutes, how to do without or make use of what you have.

I always enjoy and learn from your content, Prepper. I first discovered Amy Dacyczyn in the '90s when she began publishing The Tightwad Gazette. I waited with bated breath each month for the newsletter to arrive in the mail. I saved every issue in a 3-ring binder, but I think my ex-husband threw the whole thing out. Maybe the book isn't organized well because it is just a reprint of her monthly newsletters. The information wasn't originally intended to be a book. They were pioneers at the time. I remember when they were booed for their frugal practices when they went on Phil Donahue's show. She never intended to compare prices. Her philosophy was more about determining how she arrived at what was the best value, so it doesn't really matter if the prices aren't relative to today. Maybe you can tell she's my favorite budget author. I love the library, however, for books like you shared, I like to highlight and write in them. Definitely no-no's for library books - lol. Thank you for sharing your favorites. I hadn't heard of most of them. Happy Easter to you and Rocky.

I love love love the tightwad gazette!!! I bought copies for both my children when they moved out😉 Jeff Yeager is funny. I saw an episode where he bought real cheap wine and poured into bottle ( from pricey wine) and then served his wife for a special dinner🤣🤣
