I should really start saying that I was a master player back then. Early league (s3-s5) I got to d3/d2 and that was better than top 1%

Plat 5 used to be like top 5% or some shit and now it’s like top 15%. Rank inflation is real. Even before emerald it almost hit 10%

As a new player this really puts things into perspective, i assumed GM was like a normal high rank, even diamond is an insane rank

The total, combined number of all players above PLATINUM elo is like 12%. And people keep talking about that elo range like it's all that matters.

This is why I dont understand why people, including August, call ranks like Plat "low elo". Plat 4 is the top 20%. Thats incredibly high statistics. Sure its nothing compared to Grandmaster, but that doesnt automatically mean its trash. It would be like throwing away $100, 000 because "well its not a billion"

I'm 300 something LP right now and I don't think I will make it to grandmaster this season but man I matched with high challengers like 4 or 5 times (800+ LP) and I got dunked on. When these guys are so much better, it doesn't feel like diamond is high elo.

I hit Diamond 1 in season 7, back then being diamond 1 already put you in the .1%
There is definitely master inflation.

It's kinda crazy that despite diamond being "high elo" relative to other players, it's still a bad rank and people at that level still have so much to imrpove on.
I haven't played ranked since last august, but I was Diamond and I could how mistakes me and my teams (and ennemies) were doing even at this "high level gameplay"
