Steer by wire means that “installing” a steering wheel could be quite simple. In fact you could conceivably just have a joystick.

I've used bio-defence mode when driving om North Queensland when there were Bushfires to the west, and the smoke was blowing across the highway.

It worked very well. We didn't smell the smoke at all, which due to eucalyptus trees, has a very distinct smell.

I'm really surprised the current Model Y is not more aggressively discounted at this point in time. For example, last March I purchased a new 2024 Model Y AWD LR that offered a ($4800) discount, no cost paint upgrade for Ultra Red ($2500), an additional ($1000) discount for Cybertruck reservation and 10, 000 miles of free charging for a referral and 3 months FSD. That's a total of $15, 800 off, not including the free charging and FSD. It will take more aggressive incentives / discounts to clear out the remaining Model Y inventory, especially given the Osborne effect.

Every day it becomes harder to figure out the market because you can find just as many youtubers/journalists saying inventories are tight and demand is high as those saying inventory is piling up and nobody wants to buy these overpriced vehicles.

bought ours a year ago and it has never been back to the dealer. I rotated the tires myself, and everything else is untouched. I don't live near a dealer, and it concerned me at first. I would definitely do it again.

Dealer lots are over flowing with inventory. This does not appear to be a chip shortage. When there was a chip shortage there were very few cars and dealers raise the prices. Now they appear reluctant to lower the prices. I have seen huge discounts as much as $20, 000 off some trucks. During Covid and the chip shortage people that needed a vehicle had no choice and had to pay the higher prices. Now that things have settled down people are unwilling to pay these over inflated prices. Until they lower the prices I will just run my vehicles into the ground.

That's not a steering wheel. Both seats have bags that are strapped down and so you're seeing a strap not a wheel.

Tesla filed a patent in 2019 for "Pulsed Laser Cleaning of Debris Accumulated on Glass Articles in Vehicles and Photovoltaic Assemblies." I'd bet that this is the "More comprehensive system" they have been working on.

Amazing how popular things that don't matter get people excited. Range, utility, and repair costs is all that really matters.

As far as the filtration system, I still smell car exhaust including catalytic exhaust and especially diesel exhaust in the cybertruck. Moisture from the heatpumps should be incorporated into a prefiltering media.
