The Transport Secretary is planning to legalise private e-scooters on the road.

Currently - only government-backed schemes which allow people to rent and hire e-scooters are allowed in certain areas around the UK.

Jeremy Vine on 5 is on television every weekday at 9:15am until 1:30pm on Channel 5.

Jeremy's comments stating that if you're a car driver that you shouldn't be scared because you have air bags and that they (the e-scooter) rider are putting themselves in danger, so dont worry about it. Absolutely baffling.

No sane driver wants anyone to get injured or killed as a result of them colliding with their vehicle - no matter who is at fault.

They should be forced to pay for insurance and road tax . If they hit you and you are injured so you cannot work they are not libel to pay compensation . It’s good to know that an older guy that has leg issues is allowed to ride on the road knocking down whoever they like

They should legalise them and state that they need powered lights, front and back, indicators etc, some of the pure electric lines have these. Put in some standards to get the cheap Chinese versions out of public. They will have to allow them as we can't have more cars on the road! Infrastructure needs to be put in place

e-scooters are better for the environment than a car and when people can't get to work because the busses are not running at that time they are ideal. They just need to put some sort of license plates on them so they know who they are and maybe some sort of test done.

I use my E scooter to get from house to house for my job. It’s cheap to run and I absolutely love it. Not everybody can afford and run a car.

E-Scooters should be BANNED and taken OFF the street for Very, Very obvious reasons...!!!
