Maurice Cullen was a Canadian artist known for his ability to paint snow and evening scenes. He was one of the earliest impressionists in Canada and an inspiration to future artists in that country.

I tried to find out the difference between American painters and Canadian on a trip to Montreal and found that the American art was more defined and more black and white. That was in 1980, though the paintings were not well known. impressionism of course left out black as a colour.
