Question: Would you be able to cover $MO - Altria. That's another dividend stock at 8% that caries debt, but pays consistently. And can be held in a Tax Free Account with the tax penalty that a MLP ($IEP) has.

It all depends on whether the payout (dividend) is cut or raised... Been interesting to watch SouthWest Gas stock which IEP owns 10% of go down, wonder if the public assets (Xerox, SouthWest Gas, Newell, etc) get sold to raise funds.

The best way to get over the sting. Is to talk about it. It is always a hard call to make. To hold or to sell. The markets whipsaw the stocks around. One thing is for sure, if the central banks are intent on asset deflation. And the world is heavy on the politics. Have cash ready to deploy for the fire sale coming down the pipe line. Materials, energy, and financials will take a big hit. But also present buying opportunities.

Hello Rudy, I wonder if you know this new IRS rule of 10% withholding tax on publicly traded Partnerships (PTP) starting January 1, 2023? If so, as $IEP foreign investors we will be affected.

Yes, last week was very difficult for us energy investors. 4 down days and a recovery Friday. I bought on the way down and was able to recover almost completely Friday. Incidently i fortified my portfolio with more PBR and Gold n Silver miners. BTW i sold my IEP 30 days ago.

Invested in iep since last year, looking at the price right price to buy more, got some more shares yesterday. This stock will turn around, after all this short sellers get their money. Ill hold with whatever shares i purchase, if they cut the dividend, depending on how much of a cut
