Thorns can’t Crit so I would suggest swapping essence for revenge. It’s another flat damage multiplier and gives you an instant no fluff needed 10% (X) multiplier on bosses after their first attack. (Edit2: It also applies to mobs as well obviously but they don’t usually get to hit your minions 10 times)

It’s a little trickier to fit into a build due to the willpower requirement but will result in more damage than essence unless your base Crit chance is above 60%.

Edit: It’s also one of the few Rare node bonus glyphs so you can min-max this way but putting it near your primary defensive nodes for better survival or slap in the golem board to get a noticeable increase to its damage and armor (and therefore thorns).

Edit3: Last one I promise also a small mechanical tech for the bone golem. If you’re not using holy bolts (no judgement I just don’t like abusing mechanics like that) try to use its ability out of range of bosses. You don’t want to stagger the boss because your damage takes a nose dive when you do.

Got a couple of questions.

1. Why put Critical Strike? As a Barb Thorn, I am sure Thorn doesn't crit. Why not use Dagger for Damage to Close Enemies?

2. Why put Lucky Hit Chance? What do we need it for?

3. Damage to Close Enemies apply to minions also?

4. Why do we need Attack Speed again?


I think the primary affix should be Maximum Life.

I've been farming for over a week and have gone through a couple hundred amulets and have gotten hellbent commander twice but with other useless affixes.

The amulet I've been using has crit & atk speed. I've spent about 200 million gold and still haven't gotten hellbent commander.

Is hellbent commander that rare or am I just that unlucky?

I didn’t think Thorns could crit unless you got a pylon. Is there a better glyph?

I've been playing thorns necro and loving it. Don't sleep on your warriors. If you aren't using the warrior glyph you are doing it wrong. They are the bulk of your damage. I can one shot tormented ubers and speed run tier 101 pits with ease. I also do well in PVP, except against some bash barbs.

I started a minions necro build but said screw it and ended up doing a thorns barb instead. The thorns barb is amazing. Great vs Uber bosses and most of the pit. But against one or two of the pit bosses at higher levels (like the outlaw sharpshooter) it’s a pain.

Try using iron madin if ure dmg intake is fine dmg increase is huge unledd you have dmg to crowd control stats obviously

Drop your mages. I only have my golem as temper for golem thorns is very high. I got up to 200% thorns on my build. My IM pumping out 2000+ thorns multiplier. Born storm is paramount in this build so you will be looking to have that up all the time and try to hit as many monsters as possible to get maximum energy shield from bone storm aspect

Only problems with thorns is they don’t work at all while you have a protection shrine …like AT ALL
