Steering Stabilizer: What does it do and why

Have you ever wondered what a steering stabilizer does? Or if you need one? Or perhaps if you need to upgrade?

Some also report that a good steering stabilizer will also fix the "death wobble."

I have a 79 dodge D100, that truck is all over the road.
Rebuilt the front end and got it aligned that helped a lot .
New tires, next is steering stabilizer and new steering box.
Hopefully I can get it close to a normal steering system that is less fatiguing to drive.
Also has new coil springs and shocks and new control arm bushings.
I've looked at the frame very closely and it has no sign of ever being wrecked.
I also put inch and a half spacers on the front to get a wider more stable stance.
So far each thing has made it better.
I built a flat bed on the back and moved the gas tank to the back between the frame rails the front end may need a little more weight to help it.
Maybe this lengthy detailed post can help someone along the way.

You need to hit a big pot hole with ONE front wheel during cornering, to see the real effect of the steering damper.
You can drive on a smooth surface all day long, and not see any difference what this damper does.

I think you should have tried different speeds. Most of the time cavitation usually happens at certain situation only.
The big tires might wobble on the freeway when there are rain grooves cut into the street etc...

Just did a 5inch with 35s.. it kinda shakes a lil..

Should it be a good idea to add a steering stabilizer.?

So stabilizers go either way? Shaft on tire side or middle? Depending on car and stabilizer ... or maybe most have the shaft connected to the middle.

Is it just the camera angle or are your wheels cambered out at the bottom. It looks like the wheel is leaning in at the top and out at the bottom.

i am in need of help i am new to this i have a 03 f250 diseal 6.0 an i just got all the oils change steering fluid and all that crap but it is really hard to turn you here like a squek sound when turing an really tought what do i need to do so it will make it smoother to turn is it the stabilizer or suspension or what? would help aloy if i can get info

I have a 05 tahoe z71 when I hit a bump the rear hits real hard I just put new Rough Country leveling kit on it but I didn't add the coil spacers any ideas

Wld this cause a severe shake at highway speeds from 68-78 mph. I just had new tires put on about 2 months ago. Didint have this shake before new tires. Replaced all u joints and still have the shake. It will shake between those speeds then stops after a cpl mins and wont donit again til the nxt day. 01 gmc 1500 4x4. Stock..

I hit a pothole and my steering goes all over the place. Do you know if the 06 Nissan Frontier CrewCab Se has a steering stabilizer or can one be installed? I contacted my local dealership and they claim they know shit about this part. That is exactly what I figured from them because I have asked them differnet questiions and they always say they don't know. Anyway thanks for the video.
