It is magical. Love it waving in the breeze. I planted a lot of various grasses last year and then cut the appropriate ones back to the ground, just as you said, in very early spring. Some, though, never came back. They were planted on a sandy slope in full sun and all were at least hardy to my zone 8. A few did try to grow, but the bunnies constantly ate the new shoots until they gave out, I guess, but others just didnt seem to grow at all. Has made me a little wary of repeating, but I probably will anyway because I do love them. Thank you so much for all the inspiration and information delivered in such an entertajning and charming way. I would love to one day visit your garden center...and then I would be trying to bring home suitcases full of plants, lol.

I agree! Miscanthus are my favorite ornamental grass! The Japanese also burn their grasses, I guess it makes good fertilizer.

I have miscanthus giganteus and it is beautiful and very showy the first half of the season. In August it begins to flop, and then it rains and it's laying on the ground. I have tried several things to keep it upright with no success. I end up having to tie it up in bunches to keep it upright. Maybe you can do a video on this, and how some plants need supports and cages.
