It's no secret YouTube ads are getting ridiculous in 2024. Today, me and you are gonna take a deep dive into everything currently with YouTube ads, including them getting longer, more annoying and just being straight up unhinged.

The worst is skipping/watching an ad, trying to rewind a video, only to be hit with another ad, especially when you realize you accidentally selected the wrong time

Me getting ads actually makes me not want the product at all.
The more i see an advertiser forcing its self on me, then i have less and less incentive to buy or use the service.

Youtube once said if you don't skip this ad there will be less ads on this video. Complete bullshit, the "fewer ad breaks for this long video" is also complete bullshit and plays another minute of unskippable add in the next 5-10 minutes. And they wonder why we use ad blockers.

I love how YouTube deletes and removes naughty words, etc but ads that perfectly fine can be anything.

Protip: the YouTube algorithm gathers metrics about ad engagement. If you see an unskippable long ad simply exit the video, then rapidly click and immediately back out of the video 5-6 times. (this is very quick) This will result in the ad skip being shortened to 5 seconds or sometimes the ad break is automatically skipped entirely.

YouTube will even display ads on channels that have been demonetized. The creator has no control. The only choice they have is whether or not they get a cut of the revenue. Youtube will generate the revenue regardless via adverts.

The worst part about this is You Tube is sabotaging the creators. If I keep getting hit with ads, I often just stop watching the video all together out of frustration of being bombarded with ads.

The worst thing about these ads is sometimes they appear on MUSIC videos. Now if you don't know, MUSIC KINDA REQUIRES NO STOPS TO ACTUALLY SOUND GOOD.

I less mind ads being played at the start or end of the video, but when watching a lengthy video, and suddenly get interrupted by ads mid-video at random, was the last straw that convinced me to re-use adblocker again!

I once came across an ad that showed a picture of baking soda with the words "Get rock Harrd in 5 seconds" and no that is not a misspell. And no, I did not click on it

Im 17 and was hit with ads about my privates, double vasectomys, s*x toys, HIV and about children getting killed and much much more. I dont know how videos about nails, call of duty and drawing can bring me to that side of the internet. Something has got to give, if they want to make youtube more child friendly, then showing appropriate ads is the way to go.

0:02 so somehow in some random luck, youtube has done the inverse adblock block. where I can only use youtube if I have an adblocker on. if it's off then I get the "You have an adblocker enabled" screen and won't let me watch anything.

It's straight up GREED. Businesses have to find a way to "keep growing" even when they physically can't and have reached the peak. YT actually stole revenue from me back in 2022 by invalidating view traffic on my channel when it wasn't. So CPM was fine, but RPM wasn't, in short, they got the money, I didn't.
