I love the continuity at 1:04/1:05--we can see the grenades going off inside the blob--showing the strength of the mass now. Quick, merciful death as oppose to melting, too.

The blob was able to react to a threat, determine where it originated, figure out how that threat could be neutralized AND then respond and eliminate the threat with minimal effort.
THAT indicates a human level intelligence.
