From what I can tell:

when a marble is not moving forward for 1 or 2 seconds, they become a car
when a car is moving downwards for 1 or 2 seconds it becomes a marble
when a car or a marble touches water for 1 second they become a submarine
when a submarine is out of water for 1 or 2 seconds, they become a car

The ship Easter Egg at 8:52 is really awesome!! That got me thinking that for the races where it's just Lime, Blue, Red and Yellow to please have an Easter Egg with all the other marble colors sitting in a spectator stand :]
