I played this song on my way to prison to remind myself i could do this. when i got in there i met the only other deadhead on the compound and we kept each other going thru music. He was white and im black but prison racial tension was never between us. We were from different walks of life and from different parts of the country. The only thing we had in common was the Grateful Dead and that was all we needed. When one of us was feelin down we'd crank up the tunes and jam. Makes me tear up thinkin about it. Couldnt have made it w/o him and the Dead is what brought us together, forever grateful.✌🏾😎🍄

I was in the crowed the night this was filmed . They finished a concert and asked who wanted to stay to shoot the video. This is something you only experience once in your life.

I was at these shows and was in for the filming. 30 years later, after three fights with cancer, a stroke, and all life can throw at me, all I have to say is..

I will get by, I will survive.

Thank you, Jerry.

The song that kept me from committing suicide after I lost my leg in a horrible motorcycle accident. I played that song on my Sony CD player on repeat all day while learning to walk again. It was there that I was informed by a nurse that Jerry died.

You don't need to be a Deadhead to love this song. Everybody eventually gets a touch of grey.

Sitting with my mother as she's dying, playing the best song ever written. I'm falling to pieces, but I'm forever grateful for the best mother ever....and the Dead❤

The line, "I will get by, I will survive, " became a mantra of resilience in the Dead community. When Jerry Garcia fell into a diabetic coma in July 1986, it looked like the group could be finished; when he returned to action in December, the group opened with "Touch Of Grey, " reassuring fans that they would indeed get by.

Seventy years old and I have survived; what a great song. When I started on YouTube this is the song I've chosen to get my username from.
Love and peace to all!

"A touch of grey kind of suits you anyway..." Something we all figure out, and accept, eventually.

I saw these cats live once upon a time. Lot's of people. No fights. Lots of smoke. They just played and played and played the way they played fueled by God knows what and everyone loved one another for a while.

My brother-in-law was a big Deadhead. We lost him all too young and suddenly. I was fighting back tears while driving soon after he passed when this song came on. Thank you for helping me get through it.

While a teen, I suffered from an anxiety disorder. When this song came out, I truly appreciated its message.

Greetings from Argentina. Here we don't even have a clue of what was Grateful Dead. We live in a perpetual crisis. I just listened this song by chance and gave me hope. Even a smile. I began to understand why so many americans love them
