Rock'n'roll pioneer Little Richard dies aged 87

Little Richard, the self-proclaimed “architect of rock ‘n’ roll” whose piercing wail, pounding piano and towering pompadour irrevocably altered popular music while introducing black R&B to white America, died Saturday. He was 87.

Richard started in 1947, Elvis started in 1953. These journalists...

His contemporaries, including Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Everly Brothers, Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran, all recorded covers of his works. Taken by his music and style, and personally covering four of Penniman's songs on his own two breakthrough albums in 1956, Presley told Penniman in 1969 that his music was an inspiration to him and that he was "the greatest".

That's not true! Elvis Presley was not singing rock and roll before Little Richard. Rock and Roll is rythum and blues up-tempo and Elvis didn't sing rythum or blues. Richard was on the RCA Label first. Elvis came to the label later. Stop trying to steal what African Americans do 1st. You all always claim to be the first to do shit you never start. Rock and Roll began with little Richard, hands down. Next you all will be claiming Rap music, the blues, jazz, soul and even spirituals began, 1dt by American Whites or Europeans. Get real!!!
