Roblox Lost Their $1.6 Million Lawsuit Against This YouTuber... (Ruben Sim WON!)

Roblox recently made headlines because they filed a $1.6 Million lawsuit against a Roblox YouTuber named Ruben Sim. Ruben Sim seems to have come out on top in the Roblox Vs Ruben Sim lawsuit though. The lawsuit was settled out of court with the settlement heavily favoring Ruben Sim in my opinion. Watch the video to find out the details.

The kind of lawsuit that Ruben Sim received was a S.L.A.P.P. suit, otherwise known as Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation. These illegal lawsuits are not filed with the expectation of being won. They're instead used in order to silence critics by scaring them with the possibility of losing the suit (i.e. here with Sim having to pay $1.6 million if he lost the suit).

After some time, they often offer to "settle", and their victims usually accept because most people cannot afford the costs of continuing a long legal battle. Sim paid $150k just for the six weeks that the lawsuit was active. (See edit) Imagine how much larger that sum could have been if Roblox delayed the lawsuit for months, if not years?

The settlement usually states that critics cannot speak out about the company silencing them, so while it might seem that Sim "won" the suit, the suit was never legitimate in the first place, (and in many states, if a lawyer uses one, it is grounds for disbarring that lawyer). Further, Roblox still achieved its goal of silencing Sim. Roblox also, in effect, discouraged other critics from speaking out about them, lest they also get inflicted with a deep financial wound, like Sim here, with his $150k attorney fees.

The lawyers at Roblox that sent or worked on this lawsuit should be disbarred and the executives that pushed for the suit should be jailed or sued.

He lost less hard than he could have. That is the real title of this video. But under no circumstance is being forced to pay *part* of what he was getting sued for + being forced into silence a win in *any way shape or form*
