How Film Grain Effects Bit-rates When Encoding 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Movies

I discuss how different types of content effects bit-rates, and how much bit-rate is needed for heavy film grain content. A very interesting subject to me. Let me know what you think, thanks for watching.

My name is Carl, I run a family-run business called HD MOVIE SOURCE. I love movies, and I love all the tech that goes along with them. I love to talk about the quality of transfers a lot, it's a big enjoyment in my life. I love calibrating speakers, and subwoofers, encoding 4K content, sound, and anything techy. This is what I love to do.

The Matrix (1999) 4K has, on average, 48.84 Mbps, and it's one of the best transfers ever. Film also has a pretty good layer of grain. it all really depends on the source, its condition, and how efficient the encoding is.

Hats off to you for doing a bit rate video really goid and not too technical. Since using and buying from H D Movie Source the first thing I do now is look at the bit rates. I've never gone on other people's reviews except your ones Carl they make more sense it makes me mad when a film you have wanted a 4k of gets released and it's Pants. Kino scream factory second sight vinegar syndrome are all goid it's the major companies who let us down time after time. Soild Video Carl keep the coming how about a comparison video 4k vs blu ray.

Two other titles have a video bitrate of 95Mbps, they are Dalek's Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. and Dr. Who and the Dalek's. Followed by Silent Running (94.8Mbps), King of New York (94.6Mbps) and The Grudge (2002) with 94Mbps.

With pirated compressed films H.264, I usely go with half of bitrate around 9-17Mbs on HD for 4k 20-40Mbs. On my 4k LG C1 65'' (tv upscale for HD) with plex that is the limit, anything below is noticeable with some artifacts and grain. Sometimes 7.5-8.5Mbs for newer rarer HD films or TV is ok but not ideal. I would go with remux version 1:1 but it takes to much space and harder to find.
Btw criterions Scenes From A Marriage (1973), now that is heavy-duty grain monster.
