Unfortunately, this does not work for me. Excel seems to not delete anything, as if there is none, but still insists on keeping the small scroll bar :(

It seems like option 4, deleting comments, seemed fix the overgrown used range problem I was having. I noticed that the comments I removed were located within the data area though.

nice. if doesn't work, you have to save spreadsheet for scrollbar to reset

Thanks for this. I have a question about scrolling up and down. Is there a way to stop it from jumping from row to row? Even if using the side scroll bar it still jumps from row to row instead of moving slowly. Would this be a setting within the spreadsheet? It is a to-do spreadsheet I got off the internet which has formulas etc.
