My favorite setting since 1999, still playing it, and recently passed to the second edition, which is a blast to play and GM'ed. Highly recommended.

"The game has never felt more alive and well"
Someone on the unofficial Nightfall Discord, a while back, astutely pointed out that there have been more SLA Industries books printed since 2018's _Cannibal Sector 1_ than there were in the first 15 years of the games history when it was being shuffled around various publishers, _including_ WotC, and we've got more on the way. It truly does feel like a Golden Age for SLA.

The initiative system in S5S is one of my favourite initiative systems, but I do get where people come from when they say they don't like it as it can come off as counterintuitive to what a lot of people are used to.

But, yeah, SLA is probably my favourite TTRPGs (at the very least it's in my Top 3), and more people should be playing it.

I love SLA Industries, have done ever since I was doing an unpaid work placement, and another guy there had the book. I photocopied the entire book, and began running a game for my RPG group. I met Dave, Jared and the gang at EuroGenCon '93, where I admitted to my wrongdoings (I was also employed by then) and bought my very own copy from them. I ran several long campaigns, and played as often as I could at conventions, where my habit of being the only surviving Op from the squad became a thing, until I attended SLAcon, and played in one of Dave's games, and he shot my character in the head with a 17mm rifle round, then seemed surprised that that would kill me... Since the release of 2nd edition, I've been running online for my group, and really enjoy it. Though I do have to say that there are issues with the combat system - give someone a good characteristic and weapon skill, and they will basically hit their opponents in the head with every single attack. For less extreme characters it works much better!

I bought this on the strength of your playthrough with red moon roleplaying. The FOMP sold me hands down

I saw the playthough ya'll did on Red Moon, immediately after the first episode I went looking for the pdf and read through it all so fast. It's truly one of the most interesting and fun game books I got to read. Before that campaign had ended I picked up pdfs of the currently available supplements, bought a hardcopy and backed the recent kickstarter (Missed out on SLA Borg cause I'm not familiar with MORKBORG to know if I'd like it).
I've not managed to get a game of others around to play but i've actually begun putting together a solo play for myself with my own SLA Ops team they're called Knight-Club and the all have over dramatic names trying to catch media attention (Like an ADV Carrion called Knight Mare (nightmare) and other more Pun names like a Malice Stormer called Knight-Night

Though I have only got to play it once, it was one of my favourite games.
A friend introduced me to it, he's Scottish, my Dad's Scottish, so we had to give it a go.
The opportunity to play on the tropes of our society in the scope of the world of progress was honestly so fun.
Our group leaned into the "gladiators in the far future" idea and would always seek an audience for our "sheets" work.
Loved playing an Ebbon too.

I *love* SLA, played a load of the 1st Ed and I'm having a blast running my own game for 2nd.

That being said, my main gripe with the game is there not being a lot of detail about the times between the mission, sure there is the pit but like, how much does a bottle of Dave Beer cost? What are some proces for cool outfots ops might want to spend money on. I spoke about this with Benn and Jared at a Con up here in Scotland and I got a lot of nods and oblique mentions that something upcoming will fill on those gaps.

Beyond that im champing at the bit for the next sourcebook going into detail about cults and for more windows into just wtf is going on with the "Truth" these days.

Would like to hear your opinion on the Terminator RPG from Nightfall.

My biggest beef with SLA has always been that the sole 'magic' system is literally locked behind playing a specific alien species (Ebon) and the rest of what you can play is just 'dudes with guns'. Otherwise, though, I've always gotten a kick out of the setting. It's precisely the kind of thing I'd plunder for other games.
