I have always liked Biorbs. People dislike them because they aren't designed to be crammed with fish. They are an ornament you can put a few fish in. Great video

I have had a 4 gallon baby biOrb set up in my kitchen since 2017. The temp. in my home never drops below 72, even in the winter, so no heater. The filter is basically just an air pump driven sponge filter so I do not buy the biOrb filter replacement kits, I cut my own sponge when needed. I have some low light plants - java fern and anubias. And I keep 9 harlequin rasboras. How that number came to be is another story entirely but it's worked for 3 years and if it ain't broke don't fix it. I feed frozen bloodworms and frozen mysis shrimp and change about 80% of the water a few times per month. I also added 2 more bags of the biOrb substrate, which probably helps as well. I just love the tank. By all the rules it shouldn't be a success but it is.

You should have washed the ceramic media to get rid of the dust and other smaller particles. This would have ensured the filer doesn’t block so quickly and the water is clearer.

Do I understand correctly that in order to have this tank heated, I have to run a heater into just like any other tank (ie, the cord running up, into and down the tank wall)? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the tank being all transparent???? Why couldn't the have incorporated a heated in where the filter is?

In future builds, you could consider adding the heater from the start. The warmer water speeds up the bacteria colonisation which speeds up your cycle.

Your normally meant to wash the rocks before putting them in to release bacteria but it still looks amazing

Will your Nan adopt me? I already have her name tattooed on my leg, if that would help

I was given a Biorb cylinder as a gift, and was pleasantly surprised that the light was more than sufficient to grow anubias and java fern. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
