Overview of Mountain Equipment Kinesis vs Arc'teryx Proton FL. Two details I failed to mention, the Kinesis has a higher 30 denier face fabric which is tougher than the 20 denier fabric on the Proton FL.

Also the Kinesis rear hood adjustor can tether down to keep from flopping around on windy days.

Thank you for the very detailed review. I've never owned anything made by Mountain Equipment. I am in Canada and never see them in any retailer.

A+ review, I watched your other reviews years ago and recall how great your explanation of the jackets with real mountain use was. Hope you buy many more jackets to review lol!!

I have the Kinesis and can tell you it's very warm for its light weight and breathes well considering its wind proof too. Only thing that's slightly funny about it is the hood. Great when wearing a helmet etc but slightly puffs up a bit when just on your bonce. I can live with that because it's such a great jacket.

Thank you for your review, I have the same kinesis as yours and I use it here in The UK with our mild winters and it's quite perfect.

Nice review. I have the older models of both these jackets and agree that the Kinesis is a much better jacket.

FL fast snd light, everything made light as possible so seems cheap but it’s actually what you’re paying for .

I really wanna get an Arc’Teryx next. I have Patagonias new PFC free H2NO a try and it’s a pretty big let down. It stains and wets out pretty much right away.

Arc’Teryx that doesn’t happen.. but it costs 3x what I just paid.

So.. mountain equipment here is looking interesting too. You have any Mammut shells? I heard they make killer stuff too

Hi! Have you heard of the new Beta AR with a stormhood? I just watching your video on layering with the drophood where you demonstrated how layering isn’t a concern. I am now conflicted. Will the new stormhood version be an obvious improvement, or, since the layering “issue” isn’t an issue as you say, would the drophood version be better since you get all of the other benefits such as ease of side to side head movement and not needing to zip down the jacket to take on and off the hood. Also I think the drophood looks cool. But if the classic design of the attached stormhood is generally more simple and better, that’s what I will pick. Thanks!

Could you compare it to the practitioner ar, I was about to buy one and just saw your video! Would you also comment on the temperature ranges for each? Thanks so much!
