Is God Honoring The Methodist Church With The Asbury Revival? #shorts

Remnant's Thoughts On The Asbury Revival!

Hughes Auditorium has been hosting a chapel service since Wednesday, February 8th. Since then services have had public confessions, repentance, worship (of all kinds), proclamation (preaching and testimonies), prayer, and public scripture readings. These services are low-hype somber and worshipful. People come to kneel at the altar railing as the Holy Spirit prompts them without hyped-up altar calls. There are reports of healings and prophetic utterances. Hughes Auditorium has reached capacity multiple times over the past week, and Estes Chapel across the street at Asbury Theological Seminary has been opened for overflow. Yet there are still lines that stretch throughout the campus with hundreds maybe thousands of people waiting on a touch from God.

I was so excited to see what God was doing that I flew out on Monday to experience the revival firsthand! Yesterday, we filmed updates on the revival and shared our thoughts about the mighty work that God is doing at Asbury Seminary. There are lots of opinions circling around the rival right now. We have critiques calling it "emotionalism" and many Charismatics saying it is "the fulfillment of a Bob Jones Prophecy". We address all that and more in this episode.

My two cents:

While I don't discard the possibility, it doesn't logically fit. Asbury hasn't ever been very closely affiliated (at least to my knowledge) with the UMC. Many of their students, historically, have moved on to become UMC ministers but the Seminary itself is very detached from denominationalism. On the other hand, Asbury remains strongly linked to the Wesleyan-Holiness movement. I did not see any mention of this in your long-form video. The Holiness movement, although I am speaking very broadly, has generally distanced itself quite well from the theological liberalism going on in mainline Methodist denominations and have not really been heavily affected or impacted by what has been going on in the UMC and GMC.

What I am seeing is rather another outpouring that is being fed by the Holiness emphasis on experiencing a life of holiness with God. We have seen this again and again. Azusa street was started by Holiness ministers, the Cleveland, TN outpouring that became Church of God was a fully Wesleyan-Holiness experience, and yet again the emphases placed by Holiness groups are bringing fruit for the Kingdom of God. Of course, as a member of Church of God, Cleveland TN (a Holiness Pentecostal denomination), I might be a little biased but I think Asbury's relationship to the Holiness movement can not be emphasized enough. Because, historically, the emphases placed in Holiness groups have led people to thirst for experiences of God's great work and have led to revivals possibly even more influential than this one.

Anyways, great video as always!

This is the Wesleyan Methodist Church, not the liberal UMC.

How can you not have dissension when they are ordaining Lesbian women as Pastors and some of their clergy actively support abortion, most of them do not believe in the isolation or literal interpretation of the Bible,

They are not standing for truth Craig Keener a professor there denies much of the Bible they are praying and singing good for them but we do not have any proof whether God is in this or not, Yo claim that somehow you know but you do not, like any movement it is usually a mixture of true and false,
