Charlie Hughes named 22/23 PFA Community Champion of the Season

Wigan Athletic defender and Academy graduate Charlie Hughes has been named the club’s PFA Community Champion for the 22/23 season in recognition of his support of Wigan Athletic Community Trust.

In his breakthrough season on the pitch, Charlie Hughes has also continued his longstanding support of the Community Trust, taking part in a number of charitable activities through the 22/23 season.

Having worked with the Community Trust during his time as an Academy player, taking part in charitable Christmas donations to The Brick and supporting the Premier League Inspires programme, which aims to raise the aspirations of young people in Secondary Schools, Hughes has continued to work in the Community after breaking into the first team.

Charlie Hughes’ award comes in a season where the club and Wigan Athletic Community Trust have also been recognised by the wider football community, being named the overall Community Club of the Season earlier this year at the EFL Awards.
