Can't remember every little detail about it, However : I remember a documentary where farmers have moved their cattle paddocks underground ( literally ) to save space on their property and it's also reduced their carbon emissions ( of farming practices ) . Most of the land used for growing crops is destined for cattle. I am not sure on the exact numbers, but it is somewhere in the range of 80%. So, one way to effectively use less land for crops is to eat less animal products

It takes about 4 units of grain to produce one unit of beef. And the MASSIVE amounts of water needed to get that steer to adult size and you've got a huge inefficiency. People don't need to go vegan, but just reduce your meat intake to a few meals a week and it will make a big difference in both the environmental and your health. Meat should be a treat.
