Land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF)

Land use, land use change and forestry activity can release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, but also remove CO2. Newly planted forests need CO2 to grow and also remove it from the atmosphere, while deforestation or draining of wetlands leads to CO2 emissions.
